
Ajinkya Rahane, who led India to a historic Test series win against Australia under his captaincy, was greeted with red carpet when he arrived at his home in Matunga on Thursday. Similarly, when fast bowler T. Natarajan reached his village in Salem, Tamil Nadu, he was rotated by the villagers on a chariot. From the entrance of his society, Rahane took his daughter Arya in his lap and walked slowly to the house on the red carpet.
Now the Indian team will play a long series with England, with four Tests, five ODIs and three T20 matches. Now the Indian players will gather in Chennai on 26 January, where they will start practice from February 2 for the Test series with England. Players who were not members of the team playing in Australia and have been selected in the squad for the Test series with England, will reach Chennai on 23 January. They include net bowlers and standby players.
Apart from the England team, the Indian players who reach Chennai will have to live in a bio bubble of seven days. The series is scheduled to be played from February 5, so the Indian players will reach Chennai on January 26 to complete the bio bubble durations on February 1.
