In the year 2020, the country’s two leading two-wheeler manufacturers Bajaj Auto and TVS Motors introduced their first electric scooters in the domestic market. Both Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube started their journey almost simultaneously, but Bajaj Chetak has left TVS iCube far behind in terms of sales.
Last year, Bajaj Auto sold a total of 1,337 units of its Chetak electric scooter across the country. At the same time, TVS Motors sold only 290 units of its only electric scooter iQube in a year. Now the company plans that from the coming April to March 2022, booking of this scooter will be started in other 24 cities of the country. Currently, the company is selling this scooter in only two cities.
You can guess the popularity of Bajaj Chetak from the fact that the registration figure of this scooter has crossed 50,000 units. It is to be noted here that the registration does not mean booking a scooter. No payment is required for registration of scooter. It can be understood in such a way that more than 50 thousand people have shown their interest in this scooter.
