Jaipur . After the cancer has spread in the body of a 59-year-old woman, despite the diagnosis of the disease, it has been possible to free the patient from the same surgery. This unique surgery has been done on behalf of the team of Dr. Praveen Gupta, Dr. Prashant Sharma and Dr. Pushpalata Gupta of Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital and Research Center. In this operation, which lasted for about four hours, the cancer team has been freed from the cancer by removing the lumps of cancer present in the patient’s hands, kidneys and womb.
Dr. Praveen said that about one and a half months ago, the patient felt pain in his hand, which the patient ignored. After some time, there was a sudden facture in the patient’s arm and after preliminary investigations it was found that there is cancer in the hand bone. Through biopsy and pet city, it was found that the patient’s cancer has spread to many places in the body, which is called fourth / advanced stage cancer. Cancerous lumps were present in the hands, kidneys and womb. In such a situation, only two options were available to the doctor, either by giving palliative care to the patient, to try to reduce his pain or to remove the cancerous nodes through surgery. The team of doctors decided to do the surgery together.
Dr. Praveen Gupta told that a customized implant was replaced by removing the cancerous lumps from the bone and muscles of the hand. This implant is made in the patient’s cancerous bone prior to operation with a CT scan template. So that the implant can be done after removing the cancerous bone. This reduces bleeding during the operation and does not make the operation too long.
In order to remove the cancerous tumors present in the patient’s body, the operation was done by making a team of bone and kidney experts to remove them. Different teams operated with planning by placing partitions on the OT table itself. In this operation, Dr. Prashant Sharma took out the lumps of cancer from the kidneys and Dr. Praveen Gupta’s hands and arms. After the operation, the patient is completely healthy and is able to walk comfortably with hand movements. Dr. Praveen Gupta said that with the right planning and teamwork, it is possible to do such complex operations easily.
