Now South Korea’s leading automaker Hyundai has confirmed that it is working on an affordable electric car for the Indian market.
According to a recent news report by PTI, Hyundai Motor Company has once again confirmed that it is developing a low-cost electric vehicle for the Indian market. If all goes well, then this car will be offered for sale in the market by the next 2024. The confirmation was a part of Hyundai’s statement regarding the high duty imposed by the Indian government on imported cars. The company said that the reduction in tariff will help in increasing the sales of electric vehicles.
SS Kim, Managing Director, Hyundai Motor India said, “We are developing a Made in India affordable electric car, but at the same time if the government brings in some reduction in duty on imported vehicles i.e. through Completely Built Unit (CBU) route So it will be of great help. With this we will be able to sell vehicles according to the demand of the customers.

However, no information has been shared by the company about this upcoming electric car of Hyundai. But media reports are speculating that this could be an electric version of Hyundai’s upcoming micro SUV Casper, which is known in the global market by the AX1 codename. The company is going to start the production of this micro SUV from the coming September and it will first be introduced in the South Korean market, after which it can be launched in the Indian market.

As far as our next electric vehicle is concerned, it could be a small SUV and a crossover. Because the popularity of this segment is increasing rapidly globally.
