South Korea’s major automobile manufacturer Hyundai has been exposed to fire hazards. There is a fear of catching fire due to some technical flaws in these cars. Due to this, Hyundai has recalled more than 390,000 lakh cars in Canada and US. It is being told that two problems have arisen in these cars, due to which the engine may be on fire.
According to the information, this recall of the company includes the Santa Fe, Elantra, Kona and Velosters models present in the global market. It has the highest recall of 203,000 units of Santa Fe SUV, these are the ones built between 2013 and 2015. Some of these vehicles are also being recalled for a second time.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an American body, has informed all vehicle owners to park their vehicles outside homes and maintain proper distance from vehicles. The recall includes 187,000 units of the executive sedan Elantra, built between 2019 and 2020. Apart from this, the Kona and Velosters models, which remained between 2019 and 2021, have also been recalled. In all these vehicles, the company has used the engine of 2.0 liters capacity.
What is the reason for catching fire:
According to media reports, the anti-lock brake computer of the company’s famous SUV Santa Fe model has seen the problem of brake fluid leaking, after which there is a danger of fire due to short circuit. The Hyundai dealer will also replace the anti-lock braking system (ABS) computer if needed along with the fuse of these vehicles. It is being told that there have been 18 cases of catching fire in the US alone due to this break computer, although there is no report of any injuries or death in these accidents.
At the same time, there are other reasons for the company’s Elantra, Kona and Velosters to catch fire. It is being reported that the piston rings in these vehicles are not properly heat-treated, which can cause engine damage as well as oil leaks and even fires. Due to this technical flaw in the piston, five cases of fire have been reported so far. Hyundai claims that it will test all vehicles and if need be, the engine will also be replaced.
