The country’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is very famous for its affordable and best cars, today the company has made another new record in its name. Maruti Suzuki today announced that the company has crossed the sales mark of 5 million units in the rural markets. Maruti Suzuki has also said that, the rural market contributes a large 40% to the total sales of the company.
The company has a presence in almost every major city across the country and Maruti Suzuki has over 1,700 outlets in rural areas. The company has been engaged in expanding its business in rural areas for the last few years. If you look at the company’s sales figures here, it has increased from 10% in FY 2008-2009 to 40.9% in FY 2020-2021.
Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) said, “Rural markets have a special place in our business. Although rural market customers have similar aspirations to metros, they need more. Attention and care are needed.”
Srivastava also points out that Maruti Suzuki India Limited shifted its focus to rural markets in 2008. At a time when it was observed that business in rural areas was least affected by the then global financial crisis. At the same time, the small and compact car segment had given a lot of strength to the company. In other news, the company is preparing to introduce the next generation models of some of its cars in the domestic market, which include Maruti Alto, Celerio and Vitara Brezza.
