England coach Chris Silverwood said on Tuesday that the series win in Australia had shown that India would be tough to beat and that Australia would have to do their best to do so in the upcoming Test series. India beat Australia 2–1 even without their key players due to fitness problems. India bounced back in the series after being bowled out for 36 in Adelaide.

Silverwood said in a virtual press conference, “It has been known from the series against Australia that it will not be easy to defeat India. This is a big challenge before us. The England team will play four Tests, five T20s and three ODIs in the series starting on February 5.

The coach said, ‘I think we can beat them but the matches will be very close. We know that the Indian team is fantastic, especially on their home soil it is very difficult to beat them. It will be an exciting challenge. We are also in good form. England beat Sri Lanka 2–0 in the two-Test series.
