Honda is known for its sedans in India. Honda Amaze and Honda City have been a successful product in India. Till now the company was working on a compact SUV based on Honda Amaze. However, they have now dropped the plan and started work on a new mid-size SUV for the Indian market. The new SUV will be based on the Honda City platform.
According to the reports, its length will be 4.3 meters. That is, Honda is going to give tough competition to vehicles like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq through its new SUV. This mid-side SUV can be launched in the second half of 2023. Actually, the compact SUV that the company was working on was to be launched next year. Since the plan has now been put on hold, the company will have to restart the entire process for the new SUV.

There will be option of 5 and 7 seater
If reports are to be believed, this SUV can come in 2-raw and 3-raw options. That is, it will come in 5 seater and 7 seater variants. The SUV has been codenamed 31XA. It can be similar to the recently introduced Honda N7X concept SUV in Indonesia. The name of the 7 seater version of the vehicle could be Honda Elevate. The company has recently registered the Elevate trademark in India.

The Honda City and this SUV are going to have many things in common. It can be taken from the platform of the Honda City, 1.5 liter petrol and diesel engines and even transmission. The electronic architecture that the SUV will use will be carried over from the old BR-V. In this way, the company’s expenses will be cut and the SUV can be seen competitively. The company plans to sell 40,000 units of the SUV every year.
