Indian captain Virat Kohli and senior batsman Rohit Sharma have retained the first and second position in the ICC (International Cricket Council) rankings of ODI batsmen respectively. In the bowlers’ list, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah remains at the third position. Kohli scored 89 and 63 runs in his last two ODIs against Australia, scoring 870 points.
Rohit missed the limited overs series on the Australian tour due to injury. He has not played any ODI since the Kovid-19 pandemic began. But he remains in second place, five points above Pakistan captain Babar Azam (837). New Zealand’s Ross Taylor (818) and Australia captain Aaron Finch (791) are the other top five players in the batsmen’s list.

Ireland’s all-rounder Paul Stirling gained eight places to reach 20th position by scoring 285 runs in the second and third matches against Afghanistan. Afghanistan’s Hashmatullah Shahidi, Rashid Khan and Javed Ahmadi also gained in the rankings.

Bumrah is the best Indian in the bowlers’ list, he is placed third with 700 points. New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult (722) and Afghanistan spinner Mujib ur Rehman (701) occupy the top two positions. Bangladesh spinner Mehdi Hasan Miraj gained nine places and has moved up to fourth place. He was the most successful bowler against the recently concluded West Indies, taking seven wickets.

Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman also moved up from 19th to eighth position. Other Bangladesh players have also benefited in the latest rankings, including Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim. Shakib jumped 15 places to 13th in bowlers while Rahim moved up one place among batsmen to 15th position.
