FASTag lanes have been built on all toll plazas on National Highways across the country. The government has also made FASTag compulsory for all vehicles, so that vehicles on toll plazas move without stopping. Now the government is working on a new scheme, if the toll plaza is jammed then the passengers will be able to travel without paying toll tax.

According to the report published in the TOI, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is making a special preparation to avoid the jam situation at the toll plaza. Under this, a special colored line will be drawn on all toll plazas. If the toll plaza is jammed and the queue of vehicles is fast touching that line, then the toll operator will open the gate of that lane so that the vehicles can be removed easily. In this situation, there will be no need to pay toll tax to the passengers.

This report also quoted sources as saying that a plan is being prepared on this issue and it has started when the Ministry of Road Transport has given reports of congestion despite using FASTag to pay toll charges. Has entered An NHAI official told TOI that, “Live monitoring of the matter is also being done at the top level, we have been directed to take all necessary steps for the passengers to pass through the toll plaza easily.” Because the government has promised to travel on the highway without hindrance, with the FASTag being mandatory ”

Let me tell you that for the last few days, many senior officials including the Regional Officer, General Manager and Chief General Manager have been keeping an eye on traffic management at the toll plaza. One of those officials told TOI that, “The number of transactions via FASTag in remote areas has increased by almost 90%, from 60-70% previously. Therefore, we can no longer allow congestion on the toll plaza under any circumstances. At the same time, strict monitoring of live data through IT platform has brought a drastic change in the last few days. ”

Meanwhile, officials said that the particular color strip (line) that is being talked about on the toll plaza will depend on the traffic flow and number of lanes at different plazas. These may vary at each toll plaza. Not only this, the operators at the toll plaza have been given strict instructions that the toll gate should be opened in case of any technical problem or problem in smart tag reading, so that the passengers do not face any problem.

Order from Ministry: On May 7, 2018, a notification was issued by the Ministry of Road Transport, stating, “If the FASTag mounted on a vehicle is active and functioning properly, but machines or smart tags installed on toll plazas If the toll plaza is not able to cross due to any fault in the reading, then there is an order to cross the toll without paying any such fee. In this situation, it will also be mandatory to give ‘zero transaction’ receipt to the said toll operator. ”
