Beijing Most people believe that there is no harm in sleeping in the afternoon, but a recent research has revealed that sleeping for more than an hour during this time increases the risk of heart disease. And this also makes it more likely to die. This research, published in ESC Congress 2020 The Digital Experience, described the relationship between taking a nap in the afternoon and the risk of heart disease and death.
A total of 3,13,651 participants were included in more than 20 studies in this analysis, with some 39 percent sleeping during the afternoon.
Dr. Ze Pan, author of research at Guangzhou University in China, said, “Daytime sleep is common throughout the world and is generally considered to be better for health.”
He added, “It is generally understood that taking a nap improves working capacity and also counteracts the harm caused by lack of sleep. Our research has challenged both of these ideas. “
Research has found that sleeping for more than 60 minutes increases the risk of heart disease and death by 30% compared to those who do not sleep.
If you talk about sleeping at night, then this danger is more in those who sleep more than six hours every night.
However, sleeping for less than 60 minutes in the afternoon does not risk heart disease.
Dr. Pan says, “The results show that sleeping for 30 to 45 minutes improves the health of the hearts of those who are not able to get enough sleep at night.” (IANS)
