But for the first time, Maruti Suzuki has got tough competition from South Korean companies Hyundai and Kia. In the month of May, Hyundai and Kia have overtaken Maruti Suzuki in terms of sales.
Hyundai and Kia India combined sold a total of 36,051 units in the month of May. On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki has been able to sell only 32,903 units of vehicles during this period. Talking about the month of May next year, when the nationwide lockdown was imposed due to the Corona epidemic, at that time these two Korean companies sold 8,544 units and Maruti Suzuki 13,702 units of cars.
In this context, the sales of these companies have seen an increase of 322% and 140% respectively as compared to the month of May last year. However, in the month of April last, Maruti Suzuki performed brilliantly as always. During this period, while Hyundai and Kia together sold only 65,113 cars, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,35,879 units of vehicles.

In the month of May, Hyundai Creta became the best selling car in the country. In this month, the company sold a total of 7,527 units. On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki’s Swift stood second with a total of 7,005 units. The sister concern company of Hyundai, which recently entered the Indian market, has become the third best selling vehicle of India’s compact SUV Sonet with a total of 6,627 units. Apart from this, Tata Nexon and Maruti Dzire were the fifth best-selling cars on the fourth position.
