MG Motor is constantly engaged in improving its vehicle portfolio in the Indian market. Today the company has introduced its upcoming new SUV MG Astor in the Indian market. The company claims that this is India’s first vehicle in which Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has been used. Apart from this, it is the first car in the segment to be equipped with A-DAS (Advanced Driving Assistant System).
At present, this SUV has been displayed only, its booking will start from the coming September 19. As far as the design is concerned, the MG Astor looks a lot like the company’s electric SUV MG ZS. However, it is based on the facelift model of the ZS available in the overseas market.
How’s the design:
It gets a redesigned hexagonal grille, new bumpers, new fog lamps and LED daytime running lights to enhance its look. At the same time, the rear profile includes a faux skid plate with dual exhaust (silencer). It has a 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheel.
A special feature of this new SUV will also be that for this a contract has been signed with the country’s leading telecom company Jio. That is, Reliance Jio will provide the IT system for artificial intelligence in this. Reliance Jio will provide e-SIM and LOT technology for real-time infotainment and telematics.
The company has introduced this SUV with two different petrol engines. In one variant, a 1.5-liter capacity 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine equipped with mild hybrid technology is used, which generates 110hp power and 144Nm torque. On the other hand, the turbo petrol engine of 1.3 liter capacity has been given in the second variant, which generates 140hp power and 220Nm torque. While the larger engine will come with a manual gearbox as well as an 8-step CVT gearbox, the smaller engine will only be available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The company says that the new SUV is based on CAAP (Concept of Car as a Platform). The company’s current electric SUV model is the Petrol Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) version of the ZS EV. Artificial Intelligence Assistance and the first autonomous Level 2 car in the segment, the Astor comes with some amazing features.
In this special technology used in MG Astor, a multi-purpose camera has been used, which will give different features while driving. These include features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Drive Assist (RDA), Lane Departure Prevention, Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC) and Speed Assist System. The company says that these functions will provide safe and comfortable driving.
What will be the price:
However, it is difficult to say anything about its price before the launch. It is being told that it will be launched for sale in the month of October. Once in the market, this SUV will mainly compete with models like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Skoda Kushak.
