A BCCI source said, ‘It is not possible for him (Shami) to play in the first Test. Rehabilitation will take six weeks. After the removal of the plaster, he will participate in rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Shami left for India on Tuesday after being ruled out of the remaining three Tests against Australia. The Indian team will play the home series against England from February 5.
