
In order to revive the country’s automobile sector and relieve pollution, the Central Government had announced a new scraping policy in the past. After the announcement of this policy, Mahindra & Mahindra was the first company in the country to introduce a scraping service. Now French major vehicle manufacturer Renault has also started this service in some cities of the country.
Renault has also started a vehicle scraping service in the country, named ‘RELi.V.E’. The company has started this service program in association with CERO Recycling. Let me tell you, Mahindra also joined hands with this company. Under this new service, the company will scrap the old vehicles of the customers and will also give them benefits while buying new vehicles of Renault.
Currently, the company has started its scrapping service in select cities of the country, which include Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and Chennai. Based on the feedback from the customers, this service will also be started soon in other cities of the country. The Union Minister had announced: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari had recently announced the much awaited Scrappage Policy in the Lok Sabha. Under this policy, it will be mandatory for personal vehicles to undergo fitness test after 20 years and commercial vehicles after 15 years. Vehicles that are not able to pass the fitness test will not be allowed to run on the road. The Union Minister at that time had urged the automakers to offer discounts on purchasing new vehicles in lieu of scraping certificates to better implement this policy.
What is Renault’s new RELi.VE program:
Customers wishing to take advantage of this program must bring their older vehicles to any Renault dealership where the vehicle will be evaluated. After evaluation of the vehicles, customers will be given a clear quotation. Renault will also provide customers with guaranteed scrap benefits over or above the monthly offers on existing models on their cars in India.
What will happen to old vehicles: The question may be coming in your mind that what will happen to the old vehicles. Let me tell you, under this program the entire process will be handled by Renault India dealership and CERO Recycling. From the evaluation of vehicles, the official de-registration in RTO or submission of official certificate etc. will be done by the company itself.
Scheme for two-wheelers as well: The most important thing about this scrapping service of Renault is that it includes not only four-wheelers but also two-wheelers. Under which customers can also send their two-wheelers in scrap under this policy and can avail special interest rate on buying new Renault vehicles in exchange for the certificate obtained from it.
