Under the Vehicle Scrapping Policy, if you buy a new vehicle after scraping the old vehicle, then you will be given a rebate of 5%. This was announced by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari himself.
Gadkari told the news agency PTI, “In lieu of scraping old vehicles, automobile companies will give customers a rebate of about five percent on the purchase of new vehicles.” Explain that the scraping policy (policy of voluntary junk of vehicles) has been announced in the Union Budget of 2021-22. There will be 4 phases in this policy, out of which one phase is said to be exempt.

Fitness test of old vehicles
Explain that under the policy, old vehicles will also have to undergo fitness test. According to this, personal vehicles will have to undergo fitness test after 20 years and commercial vehicles after 15 years. Gadkari said, ‘There are four major phases of this policy. In addition to the exemption, there are provisions for green tax and other duties on polluting vehicles. They will have to undergo mandatory fitness and pollution tests. For this an automated fitness center will be needed in the country and we are working in this direction.

How much does fitness test cost
According to reports, the fitness test will cost up to Rs 40,000, which will be in addition to road tax and green tax. This fitness certificate will be valid for 5 years only. Your old vehicle passes the fitness test, only then will it be allowed to run on the road. If the vehicle fails in the belt, it will not be registered and will have no choice but to send it in scrap.
