The country’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company today launched its famous electric scooter TVS iQube in another city in the domestic market. This scooter, which is being offered in different phases, has now been launched in Pune. Here its price has been fixed at 1,10,898 (on-road). This price also includes the FAME II scheme and the subsidy provided by the Government of Maharashtra.
Recently the Department of Heavy Industries (DHI) made some important amendments in the Hybrid and Electric Vehicles Manufacturing (FAME II) scheme. A notification was issued by the department in this direction, under which the subsidy given on electric two-wheelers will now be Rs 15,000 per kWh as against Rs 10,000 per kWh earlier.
Till now TVS iQube electric scooter was available for sale only in Delhi and Bangalore. In the month of May last, the company announced that this scooter will soon be launched in other 20 cities of the country as well. The scooter was launched by the company in the domestic market early last year and is slated to be launched across the country in a phased manner.
How is the electric scooter:
The company has used an electric motor of 4.4 kW capacity in the new TVS iQube electric scooter. The company claims that this scooter offers a driving range of up to 75 km on a single charge and has a top speed of 78 km per hour. This scooter is capable of catching a speed of up to 40 kilometers per hour in just 4.2 seconds. It uses a lithium-ion battery pack of 2.25kWh capacity.

The company has prepared this scooter on a special SmartXonnect platform. It also has an advanced TFT cluster and connectivity feature. This scooter can also be connected to the mobile app, which gives the driver information like geo fencing, remote battery charger status, navigation assist, last parking location, incoming call/message etc.
The company is offering a warranty of 3 years or up to 50,000 kms with the TVS iQube. It takes about 5 hours for it to be fully charged. Soon this scooter will be launched for sale in other cities of the country as well. In the market, this scooter directly competes with the scooters of Bajaj Chetak and Ather.
