The demand for electric vehicles is increasing rapidly in the Indian market, especially people are showing more interest in the two-wheeler segment. Last year, two giants Bajaj Auto and TVS Motors launched their first electric scooters Chetak and iQube in the market. In the past January, TVS iQube has badly beaten its nearest rival Bajaj Chetak in terms of sales.
Let me tell you, the past year was nothing special for TVS iQube and the company sold only 290 units of this scooter in the last full year. Last year, a total of 1,337 units of Bajaj Chetak were sold in 2020. During that time there was a big gap in the sale of both these scooters.

But in the early January of this year, TVS iQube has done wonders. The company sold a total of 211 units of this scooter last month, which is more than the Bajaj Chetak. Bajaj Auto has sold just 30 units of its Chetak scooter in the last January. Although the company has sold 9 scooters more than the month of January last year, Bajaj sold a total of 21 units of Chetak in the year 2020.
Here is the sales figure, now let’s talk about these two scooters. The Bajaj Chetak is available in a total of two variants in the market, including Urban and Premium variants. The price of its urban variants has been fixed at Rs 1 lakh and the premium variants at Rs 1.15 lakh. The company has used a 3 kWh battery pack and 4.08 kW electric motor in this scooter. The company claims that this scooter gives a maximum driving range of up to 95 km and it takes 5 hours to be fully charged.
On the TVS iQube, the company has used a battery pack of 2.25 kWh capacity and 4.4 kW electric motor. This scooter is available in only one variant, which costs Rs 1.15 lakh. The company claims that this scooter offers a driving range of up to 75 km on a single charge. This scooter also takes about 5 hours to be fully charged.
